GAME INFO.
good morning!
Welcome awake, weary traveler!

... hm? You don't remember embarking on a journey? Or falling asleep? Well, it'd be best to take inventory of what else you might be forgetting - or otherwise missing. It seems like you've found yourself in an odd space, where there's only the distant rattle of train tracks that seem to echo all around. Oh, and voices. So many other voices, because there are naturally so many other people here, all just as lost as you. In this space between everywhere and nowhere at all, you ought to stretch your limbs. There's plenty that's a little bit unsure, but there's one unshakeable feeling in your gut: something is about to start.

Fractura is a panfandom, world-hopping, AU-optional, character-driven game that welcomes canon characters, original character, and CRAU imports! The game is invite only with a cap of 50 players. Characters will cycle through different worlds in order to collect momentous experiences, trying to regain fragments of themselves that they have lost. They will either retain their canon memories through their journey or have the option to build new, alternative reality lives that align with the theme of the world that they're visiting. Aspects of the game will be experimental and secretive, coinciding with the practices of murdergames.

If it sounds like a hodgepodge, that's because it sort of is! A little bit of reincarnation there, a sprinkle of surprise there, and entirely based on malleable character development and plots that players would want to take initiative in.
fragments?
Upon arrival, characters will find that they're missing large parts of their very soul. Now what does that mean? It means that the core of their personality remains the same, however they will discover that they are missing key traits to their being. These traits can be anything, including but not limited to:

Items » The most obvious of the possible Fragments - characters can lose an item that's very important to them. Weapons, keepsakes, treasures that mean the world to them. They'll be able to notice that these are missing.
Attributes » If your character has something that's very distinct about them, or important to their physiology. that can be a Fragment. For example, Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters can find themselves without their Crest. Depending on the attribute, characters may notice this missing right away, or need to realize what it is later.
Powers & Skills » If your character has a supernatural power or highly developed skill, that can be a Fragment. This varies widely by character and can either be noticed right away, or discovered to be missing later on.
Memories » Any memory deemed important can become a Fragment. These memories can vary in importance and depth, whether it's an event in a person's life, or they can forget an entire person, or as specific as forgetting the identity of someone who wronged them. Characters will not be able to notice their missing memory Fragments until it's brought to their attention.

The running theme for Fragments is that they're influential and core to your character's development, something worth regaining (or at least contemplating the loss of if the character does not wish to retrieve it again). They can be a mix and match of any of the above types. Characters will be missing 2 to 5 Fragments, based on player preference and discretion.

Characters will be expected to experience meaningful events that exist within the same vein as their lost Fragments in order to earn them back. These opportunities to regain their Fragments will be in the worlds that the character travels to.
worlds?
Well, you didn't think that you'd just stay in the same place forever, did you?

Currently the estimated timeline for Fractura is approximately 8 months beginning with a December test run, with an intended 4-5 worlds charted for the course of the game. Each of these worlds will last from 4-6 weeks, and will bring characters to an entirely new location where they are expected to live and have meaningful experiences. Some of these worlds will have magic, some won't; some of these worlds will be modern, some will be ancient. All information important to the world will be given at the start of the excursion.

When characters travel to these new worlds, they will have the option to either retain their own canon backstory and memories with the knowledge that they are searching for these missing Fragments - or they can be completely AU'd into the setting, building backstories with their fellow travelers and entirely adapted to the world. Consider it their option to remain Original or to be Remixed.

In the new world, characters will find themselves in the middle of a very busy, very open-ended event. Compared to previous games that were more mission-oriented, there is no right or wrong answer when existing in these worlds. There is no 'saving them' or 'failing a goal', because the entire purpose of existing in the world is for characters to only learn more about themselves. The worlds will be highly malleable and player initiative is welcomed, but players are encouraged to go absolutely wild to accomplish whatever they desire in regards to their character arc, and feel free to utilize factions in order to further that goal.
factions?
Within the game, there will exist six factions that characters can belong to: Artist's Class, Knight's Class, Mage's Class, Nomad's Class, Thief's Class, and Ruler's Class. When an application is submitted, players will be expected to pick three classes that they would like to play with and the app team will then assign 1 of those 3 to the character. ICly, this class will be represented by a symbol as characters know which they belong to.

Factions are meant to allow for additional boons and customization for your experience in the game. As you turn in AC and go above the bare minimum expectations, you might earn one Faction Token each month that can go toward IC rewards such as skills, items, or other such oddities. These tokens are only acknowledged OOCly - meant to allow for players to make their characters suffer grow as they have to react to sudden changes around them.

In addition, factions will allow for randomized character CR based on mod discretion. For example, in a hypothetical College AU world, the mods might assign dorming OOCly based on class - so Nomad's Class and Artist's Class are expected to share one apartment complex, and characters will fall in line with that given fact to allow for surprise CR. Sometimes factions will force characters into working together, while other worlds might pit them against one another.

If you desire to change your faction, for whatever reason, you may do so only when a character returns to the Space.
the space?
All roads lead to Rome, and all worlds lead to The Space. The Space is where characters will begin their journey, and it is also where they will end each world.

At the end of each world visit, characters will return to The Space for about 1-2 weeks. When they return to The Space, they will be whole-heartedly themselves again, even if they might've gotten a whole Remix's worth of memories crammed into their brain as well. Consider it a time to decompress before the next train arrives to take them to their next world, and their next chance to regain the lost pieces of themselves.
