home base.
home base.
Beginning in January, characters will have access to a network-esque system called 'Home Base'. Home Base will be a telepathic link that will connect all characters as long as they retain their original selves - that is, as long as they are all Original Flavor. Remixed characters will lose access to Home Base during their AUs. But at any other point, characters will be able to use a network-type system to be in communication with each other.
How is it accessed?
Home Base is more or less a telepathic link that will serve the same function as the classic network system. Characters can access Home Base by touching their Faction Emblem, whether that emblem appears on as a tattoo for them or as an emblem on their belongings.
Characters do not need to touch their emblem the entire time they are utilizing Home Base - but they must touch it once in order to access it in the first place. Once they want to exit Home Base, they merely need to think it, and it will happen.
What are the features of Home Base?
Home Base will allow characters to speak to each other through text, voice, or video functions. Unless otherwise mentioned in an event post, only thoughts they explicitly desire to communicate will be transmitted.
Communication through 'text' would allow the characters to see another person's message in their mind's eye. Even if you don't want to denote it, you can have the option for your character to think in different fonts. Who thinks in comic sans? Just admit it.
Communication through 'voice' would allow characters to hear another's voice in their heads. They're probably not as nice as how a conscience sounds.
Communication through 'video' would allow for characters to see and hear another character in their mind's eye. Videos can be viewed again after the initial recording.
Of course, all of these functions won't stop the real world from functioning around them. You might get some strange glances if you suddenly start posturing or talking to yourself out loud, but hey, we all have our quirks.
How does a character learn to use Home Base?
Well, they'd have to touch their emblem and…. from there it's trial and error! They have to focus on what they want to come across, but how easily they come to use it depends on how much they're willing to try.
How does someone receive a Home Base message?
Well, they'd have to want to access Home Base first! However if someone truly wants to get ahold of you, they have the ability to send the equivalent of a telepathic poke. If you want someone's attention, enough focus can get their attention in the form of their emblem beginning to burn. Tattoos will burn in whatever location they're on the body, and those with emblems on their belongings will feel their chest burning instead, right where their heart is.
You can send a telepathic poke to as many people at a time as you want! Great for summoning large meetings, wink wink.
So Home Base can be accessed whenever?
Yup! As long as you have your faction emblem, you will have access to Home Base. The only exception to this is naturally that remixed characters who no longer have their faction emblem will not be able to access Home Base. Otherwise, it is available both in The Space as well as in every world.
What is the 'leave a message' equivalent of Home Base?
If you choose to use the IC Inbox code provided by the game - there's a space for where there'd normally be a 'leave a message' type of phrase. As far as Home Base goes, that phrase can be replaced by the average idle thought that passes through your character's head. This doesn't have to be the case, but it might be funny, so!
What if you try to contact someone who can't use Home Base since they Remixed?
Then you can leave a 'voicemail' and they'll come back to your messages once they're back to their normal selves, and have access via their faction mark again!
Home Base doesn't have any bugs or anything, right?
:) Haha!
Home Base will be used for future events, which surely won't go wrong when it's a telepathic system that has access to your very soul.
No way.
