Wonderful!! The fun thing is that they might actually hear that Kino (quickpersuader) is a part-time worker at this bookstore....
The owner of the book shop will be quite pleased indeed to receive the cookies, and it looks like the former family head has indeed dropped by today! They'll both enjoy the treat and the chance to talk to the girls. Overall, they seem happy about the Mori family's unity and current situation. They reflect on how things have seemed busier the last few weeks...
"Mm, but should we really be so peaceful? I hear that the other family head's pretty incompetent. It sounds like a nice time to pounce..." said the bookstore owner.
"I think there's already been plenty of pouncing - how do you think they got how they are now?" responds the former family head.
Will the girls pursue: A ) the bookstore owner's comment about Xie Lian B ) the former family head's comment about the state of the Xian Le?
And then the girls are going to get The Lore - it sounds like that the reason why the Xian Le were so affluent in the first place was because of their political connections, which so happened to include the mayor! Then without the mayor providing a fair amount of money to them and keeping them in power, they seem to have lost some of their footing. That's not great.
- But they really should've lowered their voices. Disaster strikes when a young lady with fair features but plain dress marches forward, pointing a finger angrily at the owner: "Just you wait! The Xian Le will be back in power again shortly!" Seems like she's from the Xian Le family and couldn't handle much more even though she was trying to be covert. Uh oh! Things must not look good for her.
Will the girls: A ) Diffuse the situation by siding with the bookstore owner? B ) Diffuse the situation by siding with the young lady?
The lady is affronted!! She looks so offended and she's about to snap at the girls when it looks like the former mafioso clears his throat and offers a not so thinly veiled suggestion to beat it. She leaves in a rush - hurrying herself back over to the other side of town - but the girls will probably have to endure some needling if they ever make it to that courtesan house. But you know, it's just a bunch of mean girl gossip.... Their consequences may hit later.
In comparison, the girls will find themselves very well in the good graces of the bookstore owner and the former mafioso. They can ask them for help if they ever need it for future, whether it be by a book or... well, something else benign. :)
