Wen Ning will get up a little bit after they're done talking! He tries discreetly to get a better listen under the guise of taking his cup back to the counter, but on his way over he trips on a chair, knocking into the table of this man, his wife(????) and their children of the corn. HE PANICS AND IS LIKE OHHH GOD I'M SORRY I'LL REPLACE IT since he just knocked into shit and possibly knocked things over. This is an attempt to gather more information/strike up contact with broad man and his creepyass children.
Shinobu will be watching from her seat like (moyai) because she DIDN'T EXPECT THIS WEN NING YOU FUCKIN WEN NING. She'll be ready to step in if it looks like Wen Ning's gonna get decked. She'll also be trying to get a good look at the faces of this man and woman, and checking to see if the woman is wearing a magpie charm.
Wei Wuxian is fuckin useless this investigation apparently. He'll kinda trail after the women a little to see if they mention anything else, but won't go too far because he doesn't want to risk missing a signal for help.
The women Wei Wuxian follow unfortunately head out of earshot on their merry way, stranding Wei Wuxian and his Chaos Body behind the invisible barrier around the store's very small patio.
When Wen Ning spills onto the floor right by the couple and their children, they look both mortified and full of second-hand embarrassment. The oldest kid looks like they're on the verge of laughing, but whether it's mean or just amused is anyone's guess. "Wow, the long-haired man is attacking us!" the middle child squeals with lack of room awareness. "We're going to die!" The other people have sort of paused and are all looking.
The woman gasps and moves to try to help Wen Ning up, asking, "Are you alright? Are you sure?" and the man assists her, waving his hand dismissively. The woman isn't wearing any kind of magpie charm; she is dressed very simply also. Who is this weirdo? Sheesh. "That isn't the long-haired man," the man says, gathering his family up. "Oh," the middle child says, "because he didn't have one eye, right?"
The family abandons Wen Ning in his embarrassment, but they're polite at least, telling him not to worry about the food or drink or anything. The man puts his hat on, and it slides down over his eyes. They just want to get the hell out, and they do quickly, the man holding the hand of the middle child while carrying the youngest in one arm. The oldest keeps looking back, shuffling along; it's probably the most excitement they've had in a while.
The only reason it's difficult to go after them is because outside, they pile into a car to drive away. Besides, the owner, not wanting MORE TROUBLE, is hastily trying to make Wen Ning leave! Guess who can't come back for a while for causing a fuss. (unamused) Which brings us to the end of the investigation!
