Wow, don't just turn down Sesshomaru's benevolent offering of wagashi and tea. :\
Anyway, he reminisces calmly and very much like a grandpa, pausing every now and then to take sips of his cup of bougie tea.
"It feels like just yesterday that I moved here from overseas, but surely it's been decades by now... Back then, Yamate was even more overgrown with trees and had so few shops that every owner knew each other. Business was a simple thing. Any ware could sell, as long as it was well-made. The castle incident spooked everyone out of that area, though... Over time, that entire peak was abandoned. Even with its story being lost after years, and even though new business opportunities opened up in the aftermath, I do miss the way things were before..."
A sigh! He closes his eyes briefly in reminiscence before smiling.
"Surely any old man would say the same, though. Do take care if you continue looking. The people responsible for that incident are long gone, supposedly... Of course, that doesn't mean all the dangers have gone with them." A pause. "...Here, take these. A thanks for indulging me."
He pushes the plate of wagashi over toward them. At the same time, a waiter walks over to leave a handwritten note on the table, turned so it's facing the man. At a quick glance, they may be able to tell it's some sort of receipt.
astralfireToday at 9:53 AM i hate being on this side of the investigations so badly cant believe we're having tea with shirasu sesshomaru sasuke is going to pay for the old man's food but he's going to say "oh, is that takaomi?" and squint in the distance and then pay for it when ray and the old man aren't looking
This is what happens when things fall out of lawful hands and into chaos hands, Shirasu Sesshomaru comes to have tea with yall. also why is he DOING IT LIKE THIS. (sasuke voice) no one does good things just for the heck of it, now everyone look away as i pay for this food.
Anyway, Old Man Sesshomirasu looks away when Ray does, glancing about for this supposed Takaomi like he's actually there. Damn, Sasuke's sly. When paying, he'll see that the receipt is written for a pot of high grade hojicha tea, and the plate of seasonal wagashi, with a little surcharge for "the shop's specialty". The person who wrote it has also scrawled: The tea is on the house. We'll miss you! Don't forget to write and visit if you ever come back.
In that indulgent sort of grandpa way, he doesn't even make mention of the fact that it's very obvious this punk's paid for his food after mysterious Takaomi never shows. He just smiles, inclining his head forward a little in polite parting whenever they decide to leave.
"Take care out there, you two... These are difficult times for everyone, and difficult times lead to desperate actions."
If they take the offered wagashi along with them and actually eat any, they'll find that these sweet treats have a mild charm placed on them! Eating the wagashi will keep them cool even in the rising heat of late spring, and it will leave their moods lifted, with the mild pleasant sensation of having something to look forward to.
And that's the end for this investigation, Scoobies!
